Physics Families -
Just like that, week #2 wraps up. I was able to share only today with them (and it was great to be back after foot surgery), but Dave and the young physicists assure me it was a great week.
We are sadly in our third and final week together, with our final day coming Thursday. With that being said, there are a few things to remember:
- SA t-shirts are still available. Send in your order forms ASAP (order forms are available here).
- On Tuesday, we'll be launching our 2-liter bottle water rockets. We went over everything already, but below you'll find a list of expectations:
* May be made of one or two 2-liter bottles. They must be airtight besides the top, so no holes or open seams.
*
They fly bottom side up so, to avoid drag, each must have a nose cone. It would be a good idea to add some weight to it.
*
Each must have at least three "fins."
*
Don't forget to bring in the cap!
*
Decorate/Accessorize as you feel led.
OBJECTIVE: Longest flight time (launch to landing)
There are unlimited ideas, plans, etc., for how to build these on the web (simply google "2-liter bottle rocket" or "water bottle rocket"). Feel free to make them as simple or complex as you'd like (whatever works for your child, family, schedule, etc.). Adult guidance is permissible, but we would like the young physicist to lead the way. They WILL have some time to work on them on Monday, but TUESDAY WILL BE LAUNCH DAY.
Feel free to contact us with any comments, questions, etc.
